Special events are presented with the elegant style of the old West enhanced by the hotel’s luxurious amenities and award-winning cuisine. Since 1911, it’s been the icon of the stylish High Plains lodging and dining experience, and a favorite of presidents, movie stars and cattle barons. The distinctive, classic architecture, enriched with the colors, textures, and natural materials of the Wyoming Plains, celebrates the rich legacy of the American frontier and offers a glimpse into the spirit of the West.
The hotel features 131 beautifully appointed guest rooms and suites, with an on-site day spa, fitness center and full-service business center, and amenities such as oversized desks, 27” televisions, and thick, terry cloth towels. Thirty luxurious parlor and two-room suites also offer living rooms with sofa beds, spacious closets, wireless high-speed internet access, plush, cotton bathrobes, and more.
For event and meeting planners, the Plains has more than 9,000 square feet of meeting and mingling space with six meeting rooms, professional catering and banquet staff, and a dedicated meeting services liaison to assist with meeting arrangement, menu planning and facility coordination.
High-tech infrastructure in the meeting spaces features high-speed internet and phone connections. The Plains offers comprehensive audio visual equipment including projectors and screens, TVs, VCRs, flip charts, white boards, podiums with microphones, wireless hand-held and lavaliere microphones, as well as a dance floor and vendor table setup with skirting and chairs. The flexible meeting rooms can be set for banquets with round tables, or in classroom, theater or conference style, with individual room capacities ranging from 16 to 230.
The Plains’ professional catering and banquet staff can design custom menus to suit varying tastes and budgets. From plated receptions to themed buffets, services include individualized planning, customized décor, artistic food presentation and professional wedding reception coordination.
Breakfast Menus
Breakfast buffets range from the Bread Basket, with freshly baked breads and pastries, fruit, and juices, to the Mile High Breakfast with breakfast potatoes, fresh baked breads and pastries, fruit, juices, and choices such as scrambled eggs with sour cream and chives, waffles, vanilla cinnamon French toast, a Brie and asparagus frittata, smoked bacon, grilled ham and country sausage. Heart healthy options, omelet stations and coffee stations are also available.
Plated breakfast options include an American Cowboy Breakfast with juices, fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, cowboy-style potatoes, pastries and choice of grilled ham, sausage links or honey-cured bacon; the Eggs Benedict Breakfast; and the Roundup Morning Breakfast, with juices, fresh fruit and berries with honey yogurt, chicken fried steak and pepper gravy, scrambled eggs with scallions, potatoes, and buttermilk biscuits.
Break Menus
Keep those long meetings going strong with the Plains’ Invigorated Break options, including the Heart Rite Break with fruit, yogurt, granola, juices and bottled water; the Congress Break with fresh fruit, cheese, crackers, vegetables, dips, juices and bottled water; and the Cookie Monster Break, featuring fresh baked chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, snicker doodle and peanut butter cookies served with cold milk and bottled water.
Lunch Menus
The Plains Hotel offers several lunch buffet options, ranging from a Gourmet Soup and Salad Bar to the Capitol Grill Buffet, with salads, chips, cheeses, dessert, grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, beer brats, marinated grilled chicken breasts, baby back ribs, and all the fixings. Boxed lunches are also available, including a vegetarian selection, beef sandwich, tuna on baguette and chipotle chicken wrap, all served with sides and a drink.
Plated lunch options include wild-caught Mexican white shrimp with penne pasta, tomatoes, avocado and lime chili cream; traditional Caesar salads with grilled chicken, sirloin, shrimp or Ahi tuna; open-faced pulled pork sandwiches with homemade Kansas City-style barbecue sauce; and classic chicken parmesan sandwiches with marinara sauce.
Dinner Menus
Dinner at the Plains is always a special occasion. Hors d’oeuvres include antipasto trays, cheese boards, fruit and vegetable trays, smoked fish platters, roast tenderloin of beef and a chocolate platter filled with truffles, dipped strawberries and petit fours. Hosted or cash bars featuring wine, imported and domestic beer, champagne, and mixed drinks are available.
Dinner buffets include a pasta station; the Taste of Wyoming buffet with salad, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, vegetables, breads, dessert, and choices of herb-roasted prime rib, pan-seared ruby red trout, and buffalo chili; a Mexican fiesta buffet; and an Evening in Tuscany buffet with Caesar salad, antipasto, cheese tortellini, chicken parmesan, spaghetti Bolognese, and tiramisu. Carving stations featuring prime rib, beef tenderloin, roasted pork loin, leg of lamb, ham and turkey breast are also available.
Plated dinner selections are served with breads, vegetables, and dessert with choice of French onion soup, Plains salad or Caesar salad. An impressive list of entrees includes pan-seared grouper, roasted herb-stuffed chicken breast, grilled salmon, bourbon-braised beef short ribs, prime rib, bow tie pasta with grilled vegetable, and the Plains’ Signature prime rib.
